POST OFFICE HORIZON INQUIRY: HOW TO TAKE PART

Feb 11, 2021 |

The Post Office Horizon Inquiry wants to hear from current and former subpostmasters and there are a number of ways to take part.

Submit a written response – deadline 23 February

The Inquiry’s ‘call for evidence’ contains 60 questions – see HERE. Not all are relevant to subpostmasters – for example, some are aimed specifically at Post Office Ltd (PO) and Fujitsu staff, and civil servants within BEIS and UKGI. You can answer as many questions as you see fit.

Two key areas you may wish to consider responding to are on:

  • The human impact (Q1 of the ‘call to evidence’). This is an opportunity to provide a statement outlining how you have been impacted by Horizon.
  • Questions for the Stage 2 hearings (Q2 of the ‘call for evidence’). The Inquiry welcomes suggestions of any themes, issues or questions that could be explored at the open sessions in ‘Stage 2: Hearing from the organisations’, which will call on participants from PO, Fujitsu, and BEIS. You can register your interest to attend these sessions HERE

Attend public or private hearing sessions – deadline for registration 19 March

If you have a story to share of the human cost of the Horizon dispute, you are encouraged to attend a focus group session. These sessions can be open or closed (i.e. no public or media attendance), and private hearings with the Inquiry Chair can also be requested if you wish to share particularly personal or sensitive information.

You can express your interest in registering to attend a session as a participant or spectator – click HERE for more information. The deadline for doing so is Friday 19 March

Take part in the upcoming People Survey

Later this year the Inquiry will run a survey, seeking input from current subpostmasters on “the current service offer between postmasters and Post Office Ltd, as well as account management and relations between the organisations.”

The NFSP will share further information on how to take part in the People Survey as it launches.

INQUIRY SUBMISSIONS

A recording of the Inquiry’s first public hearing and some of the information received so far through the ‘call for evidence’ can be viewed online HERE

THE NFSP VIEW

The NFSP will be submitting a written response to the 'call for evidence’. This will include information on our ongoing work to ensure PO’s behaviour and treatment of subpostmasters is appropriate regarding issues with Horizon and cash or stock discrepancies.
