NFSP Communications Team
The NFSP is monitoring the number of trial Drop & Collect offices that are opening within the Payzone network and the consequences for existing post offices, nearby.
According to Post Office Ltd (PO), Drop & Collect is a “new, lighter branch format that offers our postmasters and retail partners greater opportunity to adapt their business to suit their needs and the needs of their local customers.” The new format does not provide the full range of products and is restricted by bill payments and prepaid parcel collections and returns processed by handheld devices.
PO maintain that these offices are opening on a trial basis.
Nevertheless, the NFSP is concerned about the consequences of these offices opening close to existing post offices and for the potential loss of income. The NFSP will be closely monitoring this situation, particularly to find out if the offices in question are providing restricted products such as rival mail providers like Amazon or DPD. We would like to hear from colleagues who are concerned about an office opening near their branch.
If a Drop & Collect office opens near you, please contact the NFSP straightaway so that we can raise your concerns.
